ktvu aalex savidge live at the -- ktvu's alex savidge is live at the van ness station. what do you know? >> reporter: well, right here on market street, i did an interview with the mta spokesperson, he came out here and updated the situation. he says computers who use subway systems can expect a smooth right. all of the issues has been resolved. he tells me all of their trains are running on their regular schedules. let me show you the scene inside the van ness station. all of the trains again moving this morning. there was a shutdown, though, last night. it was about 6:00 when the entire subway system stopped because of a blown transformer at the van ness station. crews had to work throughout the night to fix the problem. and then finally at 1:30 this morning, they had everybody up and running again. with all of the subways out of service. you can imagine it was a major hassle for tens of thousands of commuters. many had to take the bus. the mta spokesperson said the hard work helped with service this morning. >> we thought we would have to provide modified office on t

ktvu reporter allie rasmus is live at st. mary's cathedral with more on how the church plans to honor the victims. >> reporter: st. mary's cathedral opened its door at 7:00. their first service was at 7:30. the doors will remain open throughout the afternoon for anyone who wants to come in and say a moment of prayer. now the pastor led the congregation inside in the 7:30 service in a prayer in honor in attribute to the victims of the connecticut shooting. he also told us off camera they are planning to mention the victims in the services and masses that they have scheduled throughout the cay. inside the church you are looking at a small memorial that is has been set up dedicated to the victims of the shooting. there is a wreath, candle, and written prayer to guide people. we saw a number of people coming by and stopping there. taking a moment to say a prayer. they have noticed more people in general to come in and pray on their own. seeking solace in light of the tragedy. >> thinking about the families and their pain and suff
